| Sal, our dearest neigbor, your whistling and singing is already missed by me and girls. You were a staple to our loving neigborhood. We would see you strolling to the mailbox, walking to the plaza, or just stopping to say hello to a stranger. We love you and will always be here for Dolores and of course ....the squirrels!!!!!!!!!! |

Though we know we Both love pepperoni Let's call the whole thing off! |

| Always a smile along with his wit Sal's many musings were always a hit. Watching the Wings play ball in the summer It didn't matter if the season's a bummer. His many friends have lost a great writer But heaven just now got a little bit brighter. Take care, my friend, and my condolences to Dolores and family. |

| My Uncle Sal, A special presence in my life, from earliest memories of that hip maroon Mustang, a terrifying and exciting ride in its back seat as you sped along the countryside in your new toy. Wonderful, special times with you and Aunt Dolores, her cuisine, my wine, chatting the evening away. Always so loving and playful, a depth beneath the theatrics, inspiring what can be from the human spirit. Ever creative, creating, expressing, exploring, kind and gracious. I am grateful to share genes with you my Uncle 'Penguin' Sal! Happy soul journey. Love always, Maria |

| Sal, Frank Judge informed me of your passing. I do not believe we ever met, but evidence suggests that you were/are a veteran for peace even if you were not a member of Veterans For Peace. Actions are more important than memberships. I am glad that you chose to highlight the Berrigan brothers. I hope, one day, to be able to read what you wrote about them. Peace, brother! | What a gem of an uncle! My fondest memories were of his incredible (and constant!) sense of humor. I still remember as kids "attacking" him when he visited, enticing him into a wrestling match. I tried to talk John into joining me to avoid the patented head lock. He was always gracious and "let" us win. Of course, that's NOT how you get rambunctious kids to stop... Oh, and let's not forget the famous elbow moves in Solitare which consistently provoked an etiquette speech from Uncle Melo and simultaneous yelps from Mom. Whoa to the one who sat to his left! Then, as now, he always brings a smile. |

| My brother Sal was an extremely talented man. Language was his strongest gift: he studied the classical languages of Greek and Latin; German, French, Spanish and Italian -- besides "dabbling" in Japanese. His use of the English language shone particularly in his poetry and in his many publications. Like all the Parlato family, he loved to talk, and did so with wit and passion. He was a lover and patron of opera, and was known to sing an aria or two in the privacy of family parties. I can see a quintet of male family members: my brother Carm, my husband Tom, his brother Bill, our brother-in-law Bob Hoerner, and Sal. They're discussing politics and they're all in agreement. This can only be heaven! |

| We will miss Sal's words of wisdom on the opinion page of the D & C. We never worked with Sal but got to know him when we were on the CCER board of directors & when we had Forums he was always there. For some reason, he always forgot Dan's name and called him Steve. Something to make us smile when remembering Sal. We are out of state so can't come to pay our respects in person. |
