Nora arrived at Charles de Gaulle airport and was confronted by a long line to clear customs but after an hour of waiting to pass through individually she immediately found her bag waiting at the luggage carousel. She took the shuttle train from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 and mom validated our rail passes. She was certain she wasn't home anymore when she rode the RER/Metro to Gare du Nord while accompanied by an accordianist playing Le Temps du Muguet. From there she continued on the same train to Cluny-Sorbonne where the station had mosaic signatures of famous artists, writers and scientists adhered to its walls and ceiling. She transferred to a Metro train to Mabillion station and exited around the corner from our hotel in the 6th Arrondissement. She checked into the hotel and was given access to our suite of rooms immediately. Nora loved her private room and mom and dad's overlooked the street from the second (third) floor. She walked to the Seine and looked at the Louvre across the way then crossed the Pont du Carrousel and saw the I. M. Pei pyramid and Carrousel Arch. She walked to near the Pyramides Metro station where mom and dad purchased museum passes for the city and then walked to the Tuileries garden and saw a temporary carnival there and, because of the heat, made certain to remain in the shade as she walked to Place de la Concorde and rested while watching the large wheel. The Place is under restoration but she was able to view the Chateaux and then walked to the Right Bank of the Seine and watched the boats as she walked along it toward the Petis and Grand Palaises. She crossed the river at the Pont de Invalides and had lunch, then walked to the Pont de l'Alma and toured the sewers for an hour or so. She then took a diagonal route back toward the hotel and stopped in the gardens by Place des Invalides and watched the rabbits that have taken over the grounds by the Army Museum. Lastly she walked to St. Sulpice and enjoyed the cool breeze from its fountain before walking trough the Holy Door (though the Delacroix that is normally on view inside is being restored currently), then had gelato near the hotel and went to bed at 7 o'clock local time as a cap to a long jet-lagged day.
